Why Are People So Happy In Times Square New York City? Dancing By The Light Of The Moon.
Last weekend I entered Times Square to the sound of music and the sight of people dancing in the center median. Crowds were forming, a flag was waving and men with beards were gyrating. It was as if they were trying out for an MTV Video special. I joined the festivities and discovered that the occasion was a Dance in the Light of the Moon.
"Every month on the first Saturday night of the month Jews go out to the streets to say a special prayer marking the birth of the new moon. The Hebrew name for this prayer is Kiddush Levono."
The moon's renewal is a propitious sign of the fulfillment of God's promise of redemption.
