Now THIS is a skate park!
The second stop of The 2008 Free Flow Tour was held at the Rye Airfield Skate Park May 17 & 18 2008. The Free Flow Tour is an amateur skateboarding and BMX competition that tours around the United States, with stops all over the country. The competitions are open to any amateur skater or rider aged 18 or under, and it only costs $10 to enter! If you lose, you still get a prize bag and there's a party, but if you win, you can get into the Free Flow Tour finals, and then win a Wild Card spot in the finals of the Dew Action Sports Tour, skateboarding or riding against the pros!! The Free Flow Tour is handing out over $7000 in cash prizes, along with tons of free skateboarding gear and other stuff. You should check it out! The goal of the Free Flow tour is to give younger amateur skaters a chance to get out there and get seen. "To go from Flow to Pro," is the way they put it.

Rye Airfield is New England’s premiere indoor skate park. The indoor park was designed and built by Jack Murphy Productions (designers of The Gravity Games) with the consultation of former Pro Skater, Dave Duncan. This year round facility has 50,000 square feet and features everything you’ve dreamed about riding or skating all under one roof.

The GIGANTIC pro street area has plenty of standard ramps like quarters, straight banks, hips, ledges and rails as well as unique features such as a rainbow-shaped ledge, half-volcano, step-up jump box and our granite wall with 31⁄2 feet of vert and rock solid New Hampshire granite for coping. Hangar One’s Intermediate street area has everything you’d want in a mid-sized street course with banks, quarters, a 3 sided pyramid, ledges and rails. It’s the perfect place to refine your skills. And for the groms, there are plenty of scaled down and super fun ramps in the Beginner street course.

For transition enthusiasts, the Rye Airfield Skate Park has a 64 foot wide, 121⁄2 foot vert ramp with 2 feet of vert and several extensions ranging from 131⁄2 to 141⁄2 feet and a 17 foot roll-in complete with channel. It’s the mother of all public indoor vert ramps.

Looking to slap some concrete? The Park has not one, not two, but three concrete bowls. The Beginner bowl houses friendly steel coping and a smooth roll-in for those just starting out. You can step up a notch in the Intermediate bowl, which goes from 61⁄2 to 5 to 71⁄2 feet deep. Our pro pool however is not for the meek. Complete with perfect pool coping all the way around, the pro pool has a 6 foot shallow end, a 101⁄2 foot deep end and is perfect for finding out just how good your knee pads are.

While not a qualifying ride for the Tour de France, the Tour De Cure is a noteworthy cycling event. All across the United States 30,000 riders become reacquainted with their bicycles. For some, it's just a matter of grabbing a few power gels and a bag of granola, filling a Camelback with water and heading out for a 100 mile ride. For others, it's trying to find tubes to fix the flats and WD 40 to dissolve the rust accumulated on the chain while the bike sat in the garage since the last Tour. Most riders are somewhere in between Fit and Desperate. My next ride will be along the shore of the old fishing town Gloucester, Massachusetts. If you would like to donate to our efforts as a sponsor, you may do so online: ADA sponsor page for the E Team. Each mile I ride, each dollar I raise will be used in the fight to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. No matter how small or large, your generous gift will help improve the lives of more than 20 million Americans who suffer from diabetes, in the hope that future generations can live in a world without this disease. Together, we can all make a difference! Thank you for making a generous contribution to this cause that is so important to me!

The creature, called Swamp Thing, was originally conceived as Alec Holland mutating into a vegetable-like creature, a "muck-encrusted mockery of a man". However, under writer Alan Moore, Swamp Thing was reinvented as an elemental entity created upon the death of Alec Holland, with Holland's memory and personality intact. He is described as "a plant that thought it was Alec Holland, a plant that was trying its level best to be Alec Holland."
Alan Moore's Swamp Thing had a profound effect on mainstream comic books, being the first horror comic to approach the genre from a literary point of view since the EC horror comics of the 1950's, and broadened the scope of the series to include ecological and spiritual concerns while retaining its horror-fantasy roots.
