How's this for a Zen-like attitude for those who work for a large company. Arriving early at work, on a morning that is a bit cold and snowy, park far away from the entrance. Why, you may ask, would you park park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot? Well, since you arrived early, you will have time to walk, and whoever gets in late will be late and need a place closer to the door.
Since the days of the ancient Greeks, government has subsidized transportation, building lighthouses and roads, dredging rivers, and so on. Amtrak's critics ignore the hard fact that regularly scheduled passenger trains might have made money 100 years ago but can't today -- not just here, but almost anywhere in the world. The incredible passenger networks of Europe are government-subsidized.
Nearly all US intercity passenger rail service is currently provided by Amtrak, which serves 23 million passengers annually, generating annual ticket revenues of about $1.1 billion. Services are provided over a network of approximately 23,000 miles of rail over which about 270 trains operate per day, serving 500 communities in 47 states. Over the past 10 years Federal assistance for Amtrak has averaged about $1 billion annually.
When the airline departure boards start flashing "cancellations" commuters dash for the airport exits, heading to the train station and the prospect of getting to their destinations that same evening. The trains are often still running long after the airports have closed and snow and ice have blanketed the roads. The two-and-a-half-hour Acela trip between New York and Washington, or four hours between New York and Boston, is hard to beat. That's why Amtrak carries 27,000 passengers each day in the Northeast corridor and carries nearly half of the air/rail passengers between New York and Boston
Slow down with no frantic thoughts circling through your brain.
Many of us live our lives running behind time, but we only reach it when we die of a heart attack or in a car accident rushing to be on time. Others are so anxious of living the future that they forget to live the present, which is the only time that truly exists. We all have equal time throughout the world. No one has more or less. The difference lies in how each one of us does with our time.
Today I am going to enjoy the environment and get healthy, riding my bike. Later, I may take a bath, rather than a shower.

In my not too distant past, if I were to see a street person, a bum, sleeping in a door front or on a park bench, I would have kept my distance and perhaps shrugged my shoulders.: He had the "smarts" to ask someone where to go, I didn't
