I am reading a book, (House Of Suns) it is science fiction, about a race of people who have lived for millions of years, the shatterlings. Each individual, immortal shatterling has the potential to live that long. They are traders, they travel alone, each in his or her own giant space ship. Each individual ship travels a different circuit, roaming the galaxies, their holds loaded with goods for trade. The shatterlings all return to a home base once every 200,000 years to mix their memories. Armed with those shared memories, they will never be alone on their future, solitary travels through the galaxies.
Adansonia digitata, as the baobab is known in scientific circles, is one of the trees in Africa with the longest lifespan. The Limpopo Province is the proud possessor of South Africa's two largest trees, both of which are baobabs estimated to be well over 2,000 years old. On average, baobab trees found particularly in the northern parts of the province are between three hundred and five hundred years old. Near Sagole, a rural village in the northeast, is a baobab specimen that is three thousand years old and that measures 43 m in circumference at its base.
In ancient times kings, elders and leaders would hold meetings under huge baobabs to discuss matters of great importance. Not only did the trees provide shelter, but the tribal leaders also believed that the spirit of the baobab would always help them make wise decisions.
Lost in a strange city
Nowhere to turn
Far cry from the streets that
I came from
It can get lonely
When you're travelling hard
But you can even be lonely
Standing in your own back yard
The worst people can say about you is nothing.

I am by no means ready to die! So, with that fact established, let's begin at the beginning: See links for all the Genesis posts to date: Genesis Through My Eyes
In my not too distant past, if I were to see a street person, a bum, sleeping in a door front or on a park bench, I would have kept my distance and perhaps shrugged my shoulders.: He had the "smarts" to ask someone where to go, I didn't
Fortune has allowed me to come full circle and return to my earlier interest in photography. I am at that age were some weight loss would be beneficial. I certainly don't believe all photographers need to starve, but my initial goals are realistic, if not humble. The industry has changed tremendously, but the possibilities are unlimited. I am grateful that my parents' gave me a generic name. It's allowed me to explore numerous paths unhindered.
